Initiated in 1987 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Queen Victoria's accession and to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Victoria and Albert Halls, Ballater's Victoria Week brings together numerous sections of the community to lay on a host of fun activities for all ages. This year's our Silver Jubilee (and The Queen's Diamond) plus there's The Olympics on, so the challenge is on to make it the best yet!
Highlights among the events include a film night, duck race, pet show, scarecrow competition, evening of clairvoyance, Scottish evening and children's discos. Victoria Week has been taking place in the village for 25 years, and all the old favourite events will also be laid on, including the ghost tours, 4x4 safaris, book fair and photography exhibition, plus sporting and musical events.
